HCA’s Plans For Single Agency Put On Hold Indefinitely
It has been made known that the HCA’s plans to establish a single lettings organisation to manage the nation’s social housing and shared ownership schemes have been set aside.
The agreement, estimated value of £200 million, set out to bring together all existing regional housing association and homebuy agents into a single, national body. As a result of this move, the fifteen regional social housing contracts that would have been affected will be maintained until at least 2013.
Marilyn Di Cara, director of sales and marketing at the housing association, Moat, said "It is a two-year programme so to change the agent half way through would lose continuity and put at risk our ability to work with developers to deliver the programme," communicating her support for the original plans, and concerns over the scrapping of it.
For the time being, reports of a profit loss of 11.9% in group sales have been reported by the property services company, LSL Properties. However, all is not bad, as they also revealed that lettings had increased by 19% to a total of £13.6 million in the six months finishing at the end of June.
