As More People Rent, Landlords Encouraged To Fulfil Responsibilities To Tenants
With the number of people in the UK renting property rising, through choice or necessity, landlords have been reminded to look closely at their responsibilities to tenants, particularly in relation to the condition of rental properties.
Home improvement resource DIY Newbie has stated how proprietors are likely to experience an increase in the number of people looking to rent out their houses and flats as people are finding it more difficult than ever to buy a home.
It follows that landlords therefore have to make sure their properties for rent are up to a suitable standard in relation to maintenance, repairs, security and safety.
The organisation added: "In order to meet strict housing codes and regulations, you'll need to keep the building or buildings in good order, through regular maintenance if necessary."
Upad.co.uk CEO James Davis recently claimed that renters in the UK are becoming increasingly 'picky' with regards to location and property condition.
This observation was echoed by Rory James MacLaren-Jackson, CEO of Letting4Success and Property Agency Training: "From training hundreds of agents from across the UK, more and more we hear that tenants, from students to professionals, are more demanding in their property requirements."
