Increasing Costs Of Rent Not To Be Blamed On Landlord Greed

A UK industry expert, James Davis, asserted that any increases in rental costs cannot be put down to landlords manipulating tenants for personal gain.

Mr Davis explained, "Landlords aren't being greedy. They are not putting on a 20 per cent increase. They are just keen to find the right tenant because … there are more tenants in the space but their ability to pay and their reliability is decreasing."

These remarks came after the LSL released a report that showed rents had risen for six months in a row.

The expert continued, stating that due to ‘starving’ finance, FTB (first time buyers), are having no choice but to rent.

This does not, however, mean that landlords are being greedy, seeking only to find dependable tenants who will pay a good rent.
