Landlords Warned Not To Get 'Too Greedy'
A lettings and landlord information website has warned of the potential danger of property owners setting rental amounts too high.
David Lawrenson of LettingFocus.com suggested that landlords should think of freezing currental rent levels instead of opting for further increases that could result in long void periods.
Mr Lawrenson commented: "The sensible landlords will always try and be a bit cheaper than the market if they have got any sense; if you get too greedy then people will just leave and then you have got the property being empty, the hassle of having to recruit a new tenant or you might have the costs of hiring a letting agent."
Therefore, landlords should take a longer view and recognise the risk and potential cost of a significant void period being far more damaging then failure to make an increase on already high rental figures.
