Letting Agent Body To Join The NLA
The UK Association of Letting Agents (UKALA) has announced that it is to join the National Landlords Association (NLA).
Over 500 letting agents are registered with the UKALA, which held a vote on the decision at their recent AGM.
The NLA's chairman David Salusbury stated that the agreement between the two organisations will help to drive up standards in the private rented sector.
"This is an excellent opportunity to create a more unified voice for landlords, tenants and letting agents across the private rented sector," he added.
The chief executive of the UKALA, John Peartree, said that he was delighted for his organisation to have joined with the NLA.
He explained that the agreement will give letting and managing agents access to valuable services offered by the NLA, for example tenant referencing.
The UKALA's code of practice which members are obliged to abide by include ensuring that landlords should be paid rent promptly and ensuring that repairs and maintenance requirements are dealt with in a swift manner.
